There is no study supporting the source of funding for the proposed Maharlika Investment Fund (MIF), Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero said in an interview.
"Ang pinagbabatayan ko lamang ay ang nakasulat sa mga panukalang batas na pending sa Senado at yung inaprubahan ng Kamara," he said, "Walang pag-aaral na sumusuporta kung saan kukunin. Kung maalala mo unang kukunin ‘yan sa GSIS at SSS, ang daming pumalag."
Escudero also addressed the inconsistency of the proposed bill during every hearing.
"Kada araw nagbabago depende kung sino ang kausap mo, nagbabago depende kung sinong congressman at senador ang kausap mo na nagsusulong nito. May kanya kanyang opinion sila," said the senator.
House Bill No. 6398 was initially submitted with investible funds from the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) and Social Security System (SSS) as the funding source — which was removed by the House of Representatives in December last year.
The bill is currently under deliberation by the Senate, which remained unconvinced after its proponents failed to justify the bill's organizational structure, fund sources, and safeguards.
