Senate President Francis Escudero hopes that the recent meeting between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Former Vice President Leni Robredo will resolve any misunderstanding between the two personalities.

President Marcos met, and even shook hands, with Robredo on Thursday, October 17, during the inaguration of the Sorsogon Sports Arena.

Escudero said that he invited Robredo to attend the event and welcome President Marcos during his visit to Sorsogon.

The senator said that he considers the meeting as symbolic since all three of them ran against one another in the 2016 Vice Presidential elections, which Robredo won.

Robredo also ran for President during the 2022 elections but she lost against Marcos.

Escudero said that Robredo would also have shared the stage with President Marcos but the former Vice President needs to attend an event in Naga City, where she runs for mayor.

"Wala siyang eroplano o chopper. Kotse lang siya. Mga tatlong oras iyan," he added.

Aside from Robredo, President Marcos also met and shook hands with former Senator Paolo Benigno 'Bam' Aquino IV, who seeks to regain a seat in the Senate in the 2025 elections.
