Former Social Welfare Secretary Erwin Tulfo on Tuesday formally sworn in as the representative of the Anti-Crime and Terrorism Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) party list.
In the photos released by the Social Welfare Undersecretary Jerico Limjoco Javier on Facebook, Tulfo took his oath before House Majority Leader Mannix Dalipe in the House of Representatives.
He will be replacing Jeffrey Soriano who tendered his resignation on February 22 this year.
Tulfo's oathtaking was executed after the Commission on Election (Comelec) Second Division dismissed the disqualification case filed against him by lawyer Moises Tolentino over the question of his citizenship and his libel conviction.
In March, the poll body suspended the former Social Welfare Secretary’s proclamation as ACT-CIS representative amidst a pending disqualification case.
In an interview with the media, House Secretary General Reginald Velasco said the Comelec gave its approval on Tulfo's oathtaking but he cannot assume in office yet.
"Okay na 'yung oathtaking pero ayun nga, hindi pa siya makaka-occupy ng office niya until we receive the Comelec confirmation," he said.
"We will wait for the formal letter from the Comelec," Velasco added.
