"I'm still shaking. We made it!" he captioned his Instagram post.
His wife, cinema legend Anne Curtis, was among many who complimented him in the comments, saying, "Dahlia and I are so proud of you, mon amour," referring to their daughter.
Heussaff was among those honored at the James Beard Foundation's Media Awards presentation on Sunday (Manila time).
On June 5, a separate awards presentation for the restaurant and chef categories will be held, with three Filipino culinary talents competing for prizes.
Chef Aaron Verzosa, a Filipino-American, has been nominated for Best Chef in the Northwest and Pacific. Archipelago, his Seattle restaurant, is noted for delivering inventive Filipino-influenced cuisine.
California-based chefs Vince Bugtong of ABAC and Margarita Manzke of République, both competitors for the title of Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker, are both flying the Philippine flag.
Established in 1990, the James Beard Awards honors food industry pioneers.
Book, broadcast media, journalism, leadership, and restaurant and chef are among the award programs.
