Former Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile will be the next presidential legal counsel, while outgoing Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra will be incoming Solicitor General of President-elect Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
Incoming press secretary Trixie Cruz-Angeles confirmed the appointments to the media on Friday.
Enrile's appointment marks his comeback to the government after last serving as senator in 2016.
Prior to this, he was also the justice secretary and defense minister of Bongbong's father, late dictator Ferdinand Marcos, Sr., before he defected and played a key role in the first People Power Revolution that ousted the Marcos family in 1986.
Guevarra, on the other hand, will be serving his third administration as a Cabinet member after being the deputy executive secretary under the late President Benigno Aquino III and later as justice secretary under outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte.
New DND chief
Meanwhile, Cruz-Angeles said that former Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Jose Faustino Jr. was tapped as the upcoming senior undersecretary and officer-in-charge of the Department of National Defense.
"He would later assume as secretary on November 13, 2022, in compliance with the one-year ban on the appointment of retired military officers under Republic Act 6975," said Angeles in a statement.
