Police Lieutenant General Emmanuel Peralta was named as the officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
His appointment was enclosed in a memorandum dated March 27 and was released to the media on Sunday, March 31.
"In the exigency of the service, and to ensure the continuous and effective delivery of public service, please be informed that POLICE LIEUTENANT GENERAL EMMANUEL BALOLOY PERALTA is designated as concurrent Officer-in-Charge, Office of the Chief, effective 31 March 2024 until a replacement is appointed or until otherwise directed by this Office," the memorandum reads.
The memorandum was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin for the President.

Peralta was appointed following the retirement of PNP Chief Benajmin Acorda Jr., whose term was supposed to end in December last year.
The change of command ceremony of the new PNP officer-in-charge is set for today, April 1, to be led by Marcos.
