The Philippine Embassy in Türkiye on Sunday confirmed the deaths of a Filipina and her three children, who were earlier reported missing after the 7.8 magnitude killer earthquake hit Türkiye.
"It is with deepest regret that the Embassy must confirm the passing of a Filipina housewife and her three children, previously missing under the rubble in Antakya," it said in a statement.
The Embassy said the Turkish husband has laid to rest his Pinay wife and their kids in accordance with Turkish tradition.
"The Embassy and the entire Department of Foreign Affairs family express their deepest condolences for this tragedy," it added.
Meanwhile, the Embassy also reported that 20 families or 70 individuals composed of overseas Filipino workers, children, Turkish spouses, and senior citizens are staying in its shelter.
It said that it is prepared to assist Filipinos who wish to return home to the Philippines and those who want to stay in Türkiye.
The Embassy added that it would assist those who will choose to remain in Türkiye in regard to the referral of housing and financial programs and other services provided by the Turkish government.
It once again expressed its appreciation for the continued work of the Philippine Humanitarian Contingent Team and the Medical Assistance Team in Adiyaman Province.
"The Embassy remains open for any and all information on Filipinos who are affected by the earthquake," it further said.
On February 10, the Embassy confirmed that two Filipinos, who were also previously reported missing, had passed away.
The body of one of them arrived in the country on February 15.
