Manila Electric Railroad and Light Company (Meralco) consumers should take a deep breath as their electric bill will increase this month of November.

According to Meralco's announcement on Thursday, Nov. 9, the November billing will increase by ₱0.23 cents per kilowatt hour.

This is equivalent to a ₱47 extra charge on the electricity of a home that consumes an average of 200 kwh per month.

Households consuming 300 to 500 kwh should expect the following additional rates:

• 300 kwh- ₱70
• 400 kwh- ₱94
• 500 kwh- ₱117

Meralco made the announcement after it was said that the transmission and generation charges for electricity also increased.
