The El Niño phenomenon has caused Php 4.39 billion worth of agricultural damages based on the data from the Department of Agriculture.

Presidential Communications Office Assistant Secretary and Task Force El Niño spokesperson Joey Villarama said that around 77,731 hectares of agricultural land already suffered damages due to El Niño.

Villarama also mentioned that 131 cities and municipalities already declared a state of calamity due the effects of El Niño.

The Task Force El Niño spokesperson pointed out that these include local government units in Occidental Mindoro, Antique, Sultan Kudarat, Basilan, Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao Del Norte and South Cotabato.
