Filipino Olympian and pole vaulter EJ Obiena is set to return to action as he kicks off his 2025 season.
The world number 4 will once again showcase his pole vaulting skills at the International Jump Meeting Cottbus on January 29 at the Lausitz-Arena in Cottbus, Germany.
"Back at it after what seems like forever!!!" said Obiena.
"I'm excited to be back in the thick of things and to see what's in store," he added.
This marks Obiena's return to competition since his fifth-place finish at the Silesia Diamond League last August of 2024.
In the same month, the 29-year-old athlete also competed in the Paris Olympics, finishing in fourth place with an improved record of 5.90m clearance, a significant jump from his 11th-place finish with 5.70m in the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
Obiena saw action in 10 tournaments last year, where he claimed podium finishes in five events.
While recovering from a spine injury, Obiena took the opportunity to visit the Philippines for various media and fan events, including the launch of the first-ever training pole vault facility in Ilocos Norte.
