In the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, the world witnessed the remarkable journey of Filipino pole vault superstar EJ Obiena on the biggest stage in the sports world.
Unfortunately, it was during this momentous event that Obiena experienced one of the lowest points in his career.
During a guest appearance on Matchpoint Exclusive, the world's third-ranked pole vaulter admitted that his disappointing performance in the previous Olympics was the most painful defeat he had ever encountered in his career.
However, Obiena decided to push forward and continue his career. The year 2022 proved to be a turning point for him, as he embarked on a dominant run, collecting an impressive total of 17 medals throughout the year, with 12 of them being gold.
