Four areas remained under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 3 as PAGASA raised the category of typhoon Egay into a super typhoon on Tuesday.

According to its latest bulletin, PAGASA said Super Typhoon Egay continues to threaten Northern Luzon.

The center of the eye of the Super Typhoon was last located 310 kilometers East of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan as of 7:00AM.

It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kPh) near the center, gustiness of up to 230 kPh, and central pressure of 925 hPa and is moving northwestward at the speed of 10 kPh.

Based on PAGASA's forecast, Egay may landfall or pass very close to the Babuyan Islands or northeastern mainland Cagayan by Tuesday evening or Wednesday afternoon.

The Super Typhoon is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning and move toward Taiwan Strait and further to Fujian, China on Friday morning.

TCWS No. 3 is still raised over the following areas:

  • Babuyan Islands
  • the northern and eastern portions of mainland Cagayan (Santa Ana, Gonzaga, Peñablanca, Gattaran, Lal-Lo, Alcala, Santa Teresita, Buguey, Aparri, Camalaniugan, Ballesteros, Allacapan, Abulug, Claveria, Pamplona, Sanchez-Mira, Santa Praxedes, Lasam, Baggao, Amulung, Iguig)
  • the northeastern portion of Isabela (Divilacan, Maconacon, Palanan)
  • the northern portion of Apayao (Calanasan, Luna, Santa Marcela, Flora, Pudtol)

The following areas remains under TCWS No. 2:

  • Batanes
  • The rest of mainland Cagayan
  • The rest of Isabela, Quirino
  • The northern portion of Nueva Vizcaya (Kasibu, Quezon, Diadi, Bagabag, Ambaguio, Villaverde, Solano, Bayombong)
  • The rest of Apayao
  • Kalinga
  • Abra
  • Mountain Province
  • Ifugao
  • The northern portion of Benguet (Bakun, Mankayan, Buguias, Kabayan, Kibungan)
  • Ilocos Norte
  • Ilocos Sur
  • The northern and central portion of Aurora (Dilasag, Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dipaculao)

TCWS No. 1 prevails in the areas of:

  • La Union
  • Pangasinan
  • the rest of Benguet
  • the rest of Nueva Vizcaya
  • the rest of Aurora
  • Zambales
  • Bataan
  • Nueva Ecija
  • Tarlac
  • Pampanga
  • Bulacan
  • Metro Manila
  • Rizal
  • Laguna
  • Cavite
  • Batangas
  • Quezon
  • Marinduque
  • Camarines Norte
  • Camarines Sur
  • Catanduanes
  • Albay
  • Sorsogon
  • the northern portion of Masbate (Uson, Dimasalang, City of Masbate, Mobo, Palanas, Aroroy, Baleno) including Burias and Ticao Islands

PAGASA advised areas placed under TCWS to take precautions as storm-force, gale-force, and strong winds may threaten lives and properties.

Meanwhile, the state weather bureau issued a gale warning in the seaboards of Northern Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas and eastern seaboards of Central Luzon and Northeastern Mindanao.

Small seacrafts outside the gale warning areas, particularly in the western, northern, and eastern seaboards of Mindanao, are also advised to be cautious when venturing into the sea.

In the next three days, PAGASA also said that southwest monsoon or habagat and Super Typhoon Egay will bring occasional monsoon rains over the western portions of Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and Visayas.
