Typhoon Egay, also known by its international name Doksur, left the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on Thursday morning, but Signal No. 2 remained in three areas in Luzon, the state weather bureau said in its latest bulletin.
According to PAGASA, Typhoon Egay was last seen 255 kilometers West of Itbayat, Batanes, outside PAR as of 8 AM.
It is packed with maximum sustained winds of 150 km per hour (kph) near the center, gustiness of up to 185 kph, and central pressure of 955 hPa.
Egay has maintained its strength while accelerating north-northwestward at the speed of 15 kph.
Based on the state weather bureau's forecast track, the typhoon will move further north-northwestward over the Luzon Strait toward the sea southwest of Taiwan and the Taiwan Strait.
By Friday morning, Egay may make landfall in Fujian, China, PAGASA said.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 stays in effect over the areas of:
- Batanes
- the northwestern portion of Cagayan (Claveria, Santa Praxedes) including Babuyan Islands
- the northern portion of Ilocos Norte (Pagudpud, Adams, Bangui, Dumalneg, Burgos)
TCWS No. 1 prevails in the following areas:
- Pangasinan
- La Union
- Ilocos Sur
- the rest of Ilocos Norte
- the rest of Cagayan
- Apayao
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Abra
- Benguet
- Isabela
- Quirino
- Nueva Vizcaya
- northern portion of Aurora (Casiguran, Dinalungan, Dilasag
- northern portion of Nueva Ecija (Cuyapo, Guimba, Pantabangan, Science City of Muñoz, Carranglan, San Jose City, Lupao, Nampicuan, Talugtug)
- the northern portion of Tarlac (Paniqui, Moncada, Pura, Camiling, Ramos, San Manuel, Anao, San Clemente)
PAGASA noted that in the next three days, Western portions of Central Luzon and Southern Luzon may experience occasional monsoon rains driven by Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Egay.
Alongside this, Southwest Monsoon will bring gusty conditions in Luzon and Western Visayas.
The state weather bureau said a gale warning prevails over several coastal waters along the seaboards of Luzon and the eastern and western seaboards of Visayas.
