Two earthquakes hit parts of Davao Occidental

Two earthquakes struck parts of Davao Occidental early Wednesday, December 11.
The first, a magnitude 4.9 earthquake, occurred in Jose Abad Santos, while the second, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake, was recorded near Sarangani Island. Both occurred at 5:26 a.m.
According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST), the earthquake in Jose Abad Santos had a depth of 44 kilometers and was of tectonic origin.
No intensities were reported, and both damage and aftershocks are not expected.

Meanwhile, the earthquake near Sarangani Island had a shallower depth of 10 kilometers and was likewise of tectonic origin.
PHIVOLCS stated that while aftershocks are expected, no significant damage is anticipated.
