The Philippine National Police (PNP) is gearing up for the 2025 midterm elections by holding a Command Conference at Camp Crame and identifying potential areas of concern.
According to PNP Spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo, PNP Chief PGen. Rommel Fracisco Marbil has issued a directive to proactively identify potential areas of concern.
"The Chief PNP already gave guidance for the field commanders to this early to identify ‘yung mga areas na may highly contested areas doon sa previous election, yung may mga validated election incidents," Fajardo said during a press briefing on Wednesday.
This includes potential rivalries or conflicts within each local government, which the PNP Chief identified during the Command Conference yesterday.
The ground commanders' mission is reportedly to identify those who are just beginning to announce their candidacies before the scheduled filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on October.
“This early ay dapat alam na ng mga station commanders natin, ‘yung ating mga provincial and city directors, dapat this early alam na nila sino ‘yung talagang pumu-porma na para mag-file ng candidacy at dapat alam na nila kung sino ang magkakalaban," said Fajardo.
Furthermore, The PNP will also coordinate with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) before officially declaring potential election hotspots in the country.
