Filipina tennis star Alex Eala secured a podium finish in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.

Eala advanced to the semifinals of the women's individual singles tennis event after defeating Kyoka Okamura of Japan, 0-6,7-5,6-0, on Wednesday, September 27.

Prior to the quarterfinals match against Okamura, the three-time Southeast Asian Games bronze medalist bested Sarah Ibrahim Khan of Pakistan, and Rutuja Bhosale of India.

Eala will face Qinwen Zheng of China, the no.1 seed in the tournament, in the semifinals match on Thursday, September 28.
