Longtime celebrity couple EA Guzman and Shaira Diaz revealed they have been engaged since December 2021.
The couple made the announcement on "Unang Hirit," revealing that the proposal happened on December 25, 2021.
"Yes, mga Kapuso and ‘UH’ fam, Shaira and I are engaged," Guzman said, with Diaz showing off her ring.
Asked why they kept their engagement private, EA answered, “I respect Shaira a lot.”
"Ni-respect ko lang 'yung time niya. I know pag nag-propose ako, baka mag-no siya sa ‘kin, that’s the truth. Pero naniwala ako sa pagmamahal niya and alam niya pag nag-propose ako sa kanya, pag nag-yes siya, I’m willing to wait sa right time niya, sa gusto niyang goal namin na pupuntahan, I’ll wait for her," he continued.
For her part, Diaz stressed that she is now ready to build a family with Guzman.
"Readying-ready na ‘ko. Ready na ‘ko gumawa ng pamilya in the future, [and] makasama siya habang buhay. Sobrang ready na ‘ko, gusto ko nang ipagsigawan sa mundo kung gano kami nagmamahalan, kung gano ko siya ka-mahal," she said.
In her previous interview, Shaira said that she wants to marry EA after her college graduation, which is slated for August.
“Pagka-graduate po, siguro kahit isang taon na ipon muna, para lang ready kami parehas, hindi kami pupulutin sa kangkungan. Para magawa namin yung dream wedding namin, gusto ko may ipon kami parehas, hindi lang siya, hindi lang ako,” she said in an interview on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda."
In 2012, the two first met at a reality show, and a year later, they officially became a couple.
They will be celebrating their 11th anniversary on February 17.
