President Rodrigo Roa Duterte has accepted the calls of PDP-Laban for him to run for the vice president post in the upcoming polls.
In a statement, PDP-Laban executive vice president and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said Duterte “agreed to make the sacrifice and heed the clamor of the people.”

Previously, Duterte said he would run for the second-highest post in the country in order to avoid lawsuits and maintain equilibrium.
Meanwhile, the party also announced the initial list of its senatorial bets. They are:
- House Deputy Speaker Rodante Marcoleta
- DICT Secretary Gregorio Honasan
- Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo
- DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade
- DPWH Secretary Mark Villar

According to Nograles, the latest developments will be part of the agenda at the PDP-Laban national convention on September 8, at the San Jose Del Monte Convention Center, in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.
