Health Secretary Francisco Duque III on Tuesday said the second national vaccination drive aims to fully immunize seven million Filipinos against COVID-19.

This will help the country reach its 54-million target of fully vaccinated Filipinos by year-end, according to the health secretary.

"Ang tinatarget natin dito mga seven million para sa second dose para maabot yung pinupuntiryang 54 million by end of the year na nabigyan ng kumpletong bakuna," Duque said in a "Laging Handa" public briefing.

The government announced that the second wave of its national vaccination drive will be held from December 15 to 17.

Its first vaccine drive was able to vaccinate 9.9 million Filipinos. It was held from November 29 to December 1, before later getting extended to December 3.

The national government, however, gave local government units the authority to extend their own vaccination drives to get more Filipinos vaccinated.
