Actress Jasmine Curtis-Smith hit back at lawyer Atty. Ferdinand Topacio after the latter made controversial remarks about actresses posting bikini photos on social media during a radio commentary program.
In a Facebook Story, Curtis-Smith responded to Topacio’s statements by calling him out and writing, “Dugyot ka!” referring to the lawyer.
Topacio earlier criticized actresses who post bikini photos online, claiming that such posts are intended to attract male attention and gain popularity rather than serve artistic or endorsement purposes.
“Kayong mga artista — ikaw, Jasmine — bakit ka nagpo-post ng mga bikini pictures mo sa social media? Hindi ba para ikaw ay pagnasaan? Para ikaw ay sumikat? Huwag mo sabihing art ’yun. BS ’yan. Hindi kami mga ungas dito para maniwala sa’yo,” Topacio said during the broadcast.
Topacio attacked actress Jasmine for defending her sister, actress-host Anne Curtis, against the “malicious” remark made by Quezon City 4th District Rep. Bong Suntay.
“Yung kapatid, bumanat pa. Si Jasmine Curtis, parang binabastos daw ’yung kapatid niya, hindi daw tama," he said.
Topacio also defended Suntay, arguing that merely thinking about raping someone does not constitute a crime and cannot be punished under the law.
“Kahit anong sama ng iniisip mo may nakita kang babae na gusto mong gahasain, gusto mong halayin, gustong daklutin…hindi kasalanan ‘yun,“ he said.
He also mentioned other personalities, including actress and content creator Ivana Alawi, questioning why celebrities post revealing photos online.
“’Yung mga artista d’yan, sina Ivana Alawi, bakit sila nagpo-post, ’di ba para sa views? Bakit sila tinitingnan — magandang babae, sexy, pinagnanasaan ng mga lalaki,” he added.
The issue emerged following remarks made by Suntay, who made lewd comments about Anne Curtis during an impeachment hearing against Vice President Sara Duterte.
