MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the World Economic Forum (WEF) are forging a groundbreaking partnership to advance job creation and workforce resilience.
This collaboration promises to unlock new opportunities and empower the local workforce to excel in a rapidly evolving economic landscape, DTI stated.
During the annual World Economic Forum, held in Davos, Switzerland, DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque met with Mr. Till Leopold, head of Work Wages and Job Creation at the WEF.
Both officials also discussed strategic priorities and opportunities under the Jobs Accelerator Initiative, the DTI mentioned.
The program, co-chaired by public and private sector leaders, has gained support from WEF, with the aim of providing tools that could help map out policies on job creation, specifically equipping young people with skills, capabilities, and knowledge necessary to take advantage of opportunities emerging in the labour market, the WEF website said.
The meeting also reaffirmed the continuation of cooperation for the Jobs Accelerator Network Initiative between the WEF and the Philippine government, leveraging this partnership to drive growth in key sectors such as semiconductors and electronics, BPO, and critical minerals.
Secretary Roque and Mr. Leopold also delved deeper into the WEF’s Future of Jobs Report, which are crucial for shaping policies that will equip the Filipino workforce with the necessary skills to navigate and excel in the digital and AI-driven job market.
According to the DTI, this collaboration holds the promise of a brighter future for the Philippines, where innovative solutions and strategic partnerships pave the way for a future-ready Philippine workforce.
