MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and members of the Keizai Doyukai (Japan Association of Corporate Executives) held a high-level dialogue to advance economic collaboration between the Philippines and Japan.
Leading the discussions is DTI Secretary Cristina A. Roque, with the goal of mutual advancement of the Japan-ASEAN Talent Circulation platform, an initiative that seeks to enhance human resource mobility between Japan and ASEAN, the DTI stated in a news release.
“The platform will create new opportunities for skills development and workforce integration, including the alignment of academic curricula with industry demands equipping graduates with the requisite expertise,” DTI said.
During the meeting, Sec. Roque outlined priority sectors for deeper cooperation, including semiconductors and electronics, automotive, IT-BPM, healthcare and aged care services, agribusiness and food technology, aviation, sustainability and decarbonization, and clean water solutions.
“Secretary Roque’s engagement with Keizai Doyukai reinforces the “Bagong Pilipinas” agenda, which prioritizes trade expansion, talent integration, and technological collaboration,” DTI said.
“By deepening economic ties with Japan, the Philippines aims to enhance economic resilience and global competitiveness, enabling both countries to seize emerging opportunities for shared growth and innovation,” DTI added.
