Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) officials on Thursday, Oct. 26, conducted a surprise price inspection in Dangwa Flower Market, also known as the Bulaklakan ng Maynila, in Sampaloc, Manila as part of the "Oplan Bantay-Presyo: Undas 2023".
The inspection was led by DTI Consumer Protection Group officer-in-charge Mary Jane Pacheco and DTI Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau (FTEB) director Philip Sawali.
"Nagstart tayo sa Dangwa kasi bumibili ang ating kababayan ng mga bulaklak. Nakita namin na marami tayong pwedeng bilhin na bulaklak. Sinasabi natin na ngayon pa lang, pwede tayo bumili," she told the media in an interview.
In a report by RH Boy Gonzales on MBC Network News, some flower vendors told the DTI officials that there are no changes in the prices of flowers yet.
The DTI officials, however, clarified that the department has no control over the suggested retail price (SRP) of flowers.
