Department of Social Welfare and Development Secretary Erwin Tulfo said on Saturday, December 3, that they will include persons with disabilities (PWDs) in the Cash-for-Work program.
As the country celebrated International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Tulfo said at the "BUHAYnihan" event in Pililla, Rizal that PWDs are included in the Cash-For-Work program of the DSWD in their community.
He added that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered their department to assist and look after PWDs as they are often left behind or forgotten by society.
PWDs will receive up to P4,000 cash assistance through their participation in various community work.
The DSWD Secretary said assistance for PWDs is not yet part of the DSWD budget for 2023, however, funds will be included from the agency's other programs such as the KALAHI-CIDSS Kapit Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan and the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation.
Tulfo will be appealing to Congress for the monthly compensation of PWDs.
