A drug suspect was killed after allegedly resisting arrest and engaging police in a shootout during a buy-bust operation in Bacoor City on Tuesday, authorities said.
Police identified the suspect as alias “Tol,” a resident of Green Valley, Brgy. San Nicolas 3, Bacoor City. He was declared dead after sustaining fatal injuries in an armed encounter with pursuing police officers.
According to the Bacoor Component City Police Station, operatives led by PCPT Herminigildo M. Soriano Jr., with coordination from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), conducted the buy-bust operation in Brgy. Kaingen-Digman at around 12:30 p.m.
During the transaction, the suspect reportedly sensed the presence of police, resisted arrest, and fled using the operatives’ vehicle toward Kawit, prompting a hot pursuit. Police said the suspect rammed a Bacoor police patrol car and several civilian vehicles along the Kawit–Cavite Road and fired at pursuing officers.
The chase ended near the Marulas Bridge and Cavitex Marulas Exit in Brgy. Marulas, Kawit, where the suspect allegedly opened fire again, forcing police to return fire.
The Cavite Provincial Forensic Unit was requested to assist in the investigation, while authorities said a follow-up report will be released.
