The driver of the fuel tanker, who hit-and-run a motorcycle rider along EDSA Shaw, has surrendered to authorities, the Mandaluyong CIty Police reported on Friday.
In a news release, Mandaluyong City Police said the suspect, identified as Geovanie Bermudez, came forward at around 5:30 PM on Thursday, June 15.
It said that he was accompanied by a legal counsel when he surrendered at the Mandaluyong City police station.
The suspect is now detained at the station, and he will be facing charges of Reckless Imprudence resulting in Homicide and violation of Article 275 of the Revised Penal Code (RPC) or Abandonment of one’s own victim.

On Wednesday, June 14, a motorcycle rider was hit by a white sports utility vehicle (SUV) and ran over by a truck along the EDSA Shaw Boulevard tunnel past 5 AM.
Based on the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage, both the motorcycle rider and the SUV driver were traversing in the EDSA bus carousel lane when the accident happened. The motorcycle rider was dead on the spot.
Following the accident, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) appealed to private vehicles to stay out of the designated bus lane in EDSA.
