The Philippine Air Force (PAF) assured that they will immediately determine the cause behind the crash of an FA-50 fighter jet, which resulted in the deaths of its two personnel.

In an interview during Dos Por Dos on Thursday, PAF Spokesperson Col. Ma. Consuelo "Bon" Castillo stated that the investigation would be conducted as quickly as possible, emphasizing that the suspension of operations for this type of aircraft is crucial for their operations.

"It may take a few days or a week, or more than a week, but ang sisiguraduhin po natin—gagawin din po natin is despite being a thorough investigation, sisiguraduhin po natin na bibilisan natin," Castillo said.

Earlier, the PAF confirmed it had temporarily suspended the operations of its remaining 11 FA-50 jets. Castillo explained that this decision was made to ensure the safety of future flights of the aircraft.

The spokesperson highlighted that the FA-50 jets are vital for the country's territorial defense, particularly in the West Philippine Sea, where they support ground forces.

Despite the suspension, Castillo noted that other available aircraft can still be used for operations.

"Mayroon pa rin naman tayong iba't ibang asset ng fixed-wing aircraft na nagagamit natin for maritime patrols, at the same time for our maritime patrol to internal security operations, in support of our ground troops. Meron din po tayong mga other fixed-wing and other rotary aircraft," Castillo said.

The PAF stated that the cause of the incident has not yet been identified, and they have not disclosed the names of the two personnel involved, as the investigation is still ongoing.

On Wednesday, the aircraft was reportedly found at Mount Kalatungan, Bukidnon, along with the two pilots, who were found dead.

Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Eastern Mindanao Commander Lt. Gen. Luis Rex Bergante described the fighter jet as "totally wrecked."

The FA-50 fighter jet went missing on Tuesday during a tactical night operation.
