MRT-3 General Manager Oscar Bongon is set to be replaced after the recent escalator malfunction at Taft Avenue Station.
In an exclusive interview with DZRH's Dos Por Dos on Tuesday, Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon confirmed that a replacement would take place following the recent incident.
"Nagrekomenda naman tayo ng tao hopefully na makakagawa ng mas magandang trabaho. Hinihintay na lang po natin ang paglabas ng papeles," said Dizon.
"Mayroon na po tayong nirekomenda sa Office of the President," he added.
The incident occurred last March 8, when passengers were injured after the ascending escalator at Taft Avenue Station malfunctioned.
Dizon expressed his dissatisfaction with the delay in repairing the escalator, mentioning that it took several days to resolve the issue. He revealed that he first learned about the incident on March 10 after viewing a viral video.
Upon speaking with GM Bongon on March 11, Dizon learned that the escalator, which had been damaged, was still not repaired.
The Transportation chief did not, however, reveal the name of the person he recommended to the Office of the President to replace the General Manager.
