The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Tuesday, January 2, announced that its anti-colorum public utility vehicles (PUV) crackdown yielded ₱20.8 million in fines in December last year.
DOTr said it imposed a ₱200,000 penalty per van while ₱1 million per bus so offenders would “reflect the government's unwavering commitment to prioritizing road safety for all commuters.”
According to DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista, the agency’s anti-colorum campaign focused on unauthorized PUVs to safeguard road users’ welfare.
The agency anticipates that more illegal and unauthorized vehicles would be exposed following its intensified campaign.
