The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has urged the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp. to waive toll fees in areas affected by the Marilao Interchange Bridge accident, citing heavy traffic caused by the incident.
(It would be doubly painful for motorists if they were charged the full toll fee while they’ve been stuck in traffic for hours, even though they were only traveling a short distance. This will be a small consolation for the inconvenience motorists and passengers alike are experiencing.)
In a report by RH 5 Val Gonzales, Dizon said the directive encompasses the roads from Balintawak to Marilao.
Furthermore, the secretary has called for the bridge’s swift repair. Instead of taking two weeks, he said repairs on the bridge must be completed within one week.
The Marilao Interchange Bridge was damaged recently, after a container truck passed over it.
