Transport agencies have deployed a total of 54 buses to accommodate passengers affected by the Light Rail Transit Line 1's (LRT-1) temporary shutdown today, March 27.
In an advisory, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said four buses from the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and 50 buses from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) started to ply the route from EDSA-Taft to Monumento and vice-versa, along Taft Avenue, at 4 AM.
The deployed buses are allowed to pick up and drop off passengers along Taft Avenue, specifically in Edsa-Taft, Gil Puyat, Doroteo Jose, Carriedo, and Monumento.
“These measures are to ensure that commuters will continue to have access to public transportation as part of the Oplan Biyaheng Ayos of the government,” DOTr noted.
Private operator Light Rail Manila Corporation announced earlier that LRT-1 would not operate from March 27 to March 31 to facilitate the annual maintenance and the mandatory testing activities related to the LRT-1 Cavite Extension project.
Normal regular operations in LRT-1 will resume on Monday, April 1, at 4:30 AM.
