The Depart of Tourism on Friday announced that leisure point to point travel will be suspended effective immediately as the National Capital Region and four other areas gear up for another round of lockdown.
In a statement issued by Tourism Sec. Bernadette Romulo-Puyat, “in the interim week under the GCQ-HR, point to point flights for leisure are suspended, effective immediately. However, returning flights are allowed for tourists residing in the NCR Plus (NCR, Bulacan, Cavite, Laguna, Riza)”.
Puyat added that “any type of non-essential travel to and from NCR Plus” will also be prohibited in order to avoid congestion in ports.
Only authorized persons outside their residences will be allowed to leave their homes.
Also, dine-in, meetings and other outside events will be suspended. Only essential establishments such as groceries and hospitals will remain open. Government offices and other agencies providing basic services will work on a skeletal system.
NCR is currently under General Community Quarantine with heightened restrictions after President Rodrigo Duterte approved the recommendation of its CoVId19 pandemic task force.
However, Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque on Friday during his online press briefing said that the President will follow the recommendation of both the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases and mayors to shift Metro Manila back to ECQ.
Roque has yet to confirm if the government will provide subsidy for employees and families who will be affected by this latest lockdown.
