Award-winning Filipina actress Dolly De Leon has been invited to become a member of the Oscars Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
She was among the 398 International artists and professionals who received the invitation to join the organization.
“The Academy is proud to welcome these artists and professionals into our membership. They represent extraordinary global talent across cinematic disciplines and have made a vital impact on the arts and sciences of motion pictures and on movie fans worldwide,” Academy CEO Bill Kramer and Academy President Janet Yang said in a news release posted on Wednesday, June 28.

Once De Leon accepted the membership invitation, she will have the eligibility to vote for the 96th Edition of the Oscars that will be held on March 10, 2024.
Some popular International artists who also got invited to join the membership are American superstar Taylor Swift, American actor Austin Butler, and Chinese American actor Ke Huy Quan.
Aside from musicians and actors, the Oscars also extended its invitation to renowned cinematographers, production designers, directors and casting directors, writers, makeup artists and hairstylists, documentarists, filmmakers, and many more.
According to the prestigious award show, the members were selected based on their “professional qualifications, with an ongoing commitment to representation, inclusion, and equity remaining a priority.”
It said that the 2023 invitees were 40 percent women, 34 percent belong to underrepresented ethnic communities, and 52 percent are situated in 50 countries and territories outside the United States (US).
