Department of Justice (DOJ) Undersecretary Emmeline Aglipay-Villar has resigned from the DOJ effective March 21, according Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra.
Guevarra said that Villar stepped down from her post to help in the campaign of her husband, former Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, who is running for senator in the ay elections.
"Usec. Emmeline's passionate advocacy for the protection of women's and children's rights found expression in her work as usec in charge of the inter-agency council against (human) trafficking and the DOJ's gender and special protections group," said Guevarra in a statement.
During her time as undersecretary, Guevarra said Villar was also in charge of the DOJ secretary's legal staff.

Villar was appointed as DOJ undersecretary in 2018 by President Rodrigo Duterte following the recommendation of Guevarra.
