The Department of Justice (DOJ) indicated that the investigation results concerning the government official involved in the illegal 'escape' of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo will be made public soon.
“I was just told that the only thing I can disclose at this point is that it is coming to an end. and we can expect that the results of the investigation will come out very soon,” DOJ Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Jose Dominic “Mico” Clavano IV said during a news forum on Saturday.
According to Clavano, the investigation results could potentially be published this month, but this is not certain. The release might be postponed if new information or circumstances arise.
Clavano refrained from revealing the number of individuals involved or identifying which government personnel are under investigation, stating that he is 'simply not privy to that information'.
Additionally, he stated that the investigation is not only focused on the possibility of public officials aiding and abetting but also includes examining the involvement of private individuals.
“She (Guo) could have not done this alone. So, mayroon talaga siyang network and the POGO network is quite big. It’s quite large. There’s a web of these bosses, managers, supervisors that may be helping each other as well,” said Clavano.
President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. cautioned that there would be serious consequences for government personnel found to have facilitated Guo’s escape.
Guo is said to have departed the Philippines on July 18. She was apprehended in Tangerang City, Indonesia, and returned to the Philippines on September 6.
The dismissed mayor faces charges related to her alleged involvement in illegal Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) activities in Bamban, Tarlac.
