The Department of Justice (DOJ) refuses to accept the claim that immigration personnel had no hand in discharged Bamban, Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo’s departure abroad, notwithstanding the Look-Out Bulletin Order (ILBO) on her, Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla stated on Wednesday.
Guo was discovered and arrested by Indonesian police in Jakarta on Tuesday, and is set for deportation to the Philippines.
“Isang masasabi ko dyan, nagpupuslit papasok … ang pastillas gang, at nagpupuslit din sila palabas. Kaya alam natin meron talagang gumagawa nun sa immigration,” Remulla asserted during a press briefing.
(There’s one thing I’ll say about that, the pastillas gang would sneak people in, and sneak people out. That’s how we know there really are people in immigration doing it.)
The secretary reiterated his earlier sentiments doubting the claim put forth by Guo’s sibling, Shiela Guo, that the two had fled the country via boat. He said traversing the South China Sea for three days would be difficult, and the presence of pirates must be accounted for.
“Chini-check namin lahat ng records ng CAAP, mga records ng paglipad ng mga eroplano, kung merong chartered flights, kung merong mga chartered aviation flights na private planes. Pinag-aaralan pa rin natin,” Remulla said.
(We’re checking all the CAAP records, records of all the plane flights, if there were chartered flights, if there were chartered aviation flights for private planes. We’re still studying it.)
Meanwhile, the prosecution panel carrying out the preliminary investigation on Guo’s charges of qualified trafficking will soon come to a decision as to whether or not the case should be filed, the DOJ confirmed.
Guo had supposedly filed a motion to reopen the investigation despite not having attended panel hearings. However, she could not have had the motion notarized as she had already left the Philippines.
