The Department of Justice (DOJ) is looking into filing of charges against the lawyer who notarized the counter-affidavit of Dismissed Bamban, Tarlac Alice Guo.
During a Senate hearing last August 27, Atty. Elmer Galicia insisted that he met with Guo but admitted that the former mayor did not swear on her counter-affidavit in front of him.
Galicia said that Guo presented a driver's license as proof of her identity but did not alight her vehicle throughout their meeting last August 17.
Questions arose regarding the validity of the counter-affidavit submitted by the camp of Guo following reports that she left the Philippines as early as July 18, about a month before her aforementioned meeting with Galicia at his office in San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.
"Nung una very confident siya na nakita niya si former Mayor Alice Guo. Nung medyo na-grill siya biglang lumabo yung kwento niya," DOJ Asec. Mico Clavano told reporters on Friday, August 30.
"We will have to see kung anong liabilities whether they be administrative or criminal. We have to make an example out of this," he stressed.
Clavano said that Galicia could also face disbarment if found that he lied about meeting Guo.
"Everything is on the table. We are trying to see lang kung ano ba talaga ang nangyari doon. If we feel na talagang nag-sinungaling si Atty. Galicia then he has to face the consequences," Clavano stressed.
Shiela Guo, the supposed sister of the former mayor, confirmed that she with her two siblings left the Philippines via a boat to Malaysia before arriving at Indonesia.
Shiela returned to the Philippines following her arrest in Indonesia.
