The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Friday junked the charges filed against the father of one of the suspects linked in the killing of John Matthew Salilig, a third-year Chemical Engineering student from Adamson University.
"The resolution against the father of one of the respondents has been dismissed for lack of probable cause with reasonable certainty of conviction. So, that’s done and over with already,” DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano told reporters in an interview.
He said the release order for the father will be issued immediately.
“Siguro ang message na lang natin sa mga school authorities and the barangay officials is to cooperate,” Calvano said.
On Thursday, Police authorities arrested the father of one of the suspects involved in Salilig's death after he refused to be served with the search warrant.
The father also reportedly stopped authorities from seizing the vehicle used that carried Salilig to a vacant lot in Imus, Cavite, where the student was buried and discovered.
On the other hand, Clavano said the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been tasked to investigate the alleged hazing reported in Cebu that involves a 20-year-old marine engineering student.
He added that the NBI has yet to submit any initial reports about the incident.
