The Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday indicted seven members of Tau Gamma Phi Fraternity who are responsible behind the brutal murder of Adamson University student John Matthew Salilig.
In a press statement, DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano said the DOJ panel of prosecutors recommended filing two counts of murder against the following fraternity members:
- Earl Anthony Osita Romero a.k.a. "Slaughter";
- Tung Cheng Benitez Teng, Jr. a.k.a. "Nike";
- Jerome Ochoco Balot a.k.a. "Allie"
- Sandro Dasalla Victorino a.k.a. "Loki";
- Michael Lambert Alcazar Ricalde a.k.a. "Alcazar"
- Mark Muñoz Pedrosa a.k.a. "Macoy"; AT
- Daniel Delos Reyes Perry a.k.a. "Sting'
Separate two counts of complaints are also recommended to file before the Regional Trial Court in Binan, Laguna, against the seven suspects for infringement of Republic Act 8049 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.
The DOJ panel of prosecutors also found probable cause to indict other individuals who remain at large.
"In finding probable cause against the respondents, the panel explained in its resolution dated 13 March 2023 that all of the above-mentioned respondents planned and actually participated in hazing the recruits by way of paddling," Clavano said.
On February 28, the Cavite police found the remains Salilig, which was already in the stage of decomposition, at a vacant lot in a subdivision in Malagasang, Imus City.
