Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has created a Department of Justice–National Bureau of Investigation (DOJ-NBI) Case Build-Up Task Force to look into alleged irregularities in public works and flood control projects.
According to a reliable source of DZRH News, Department Order No. 674 designates Justice Undersecretary Jesse Andres as chairperson of the task force. The group will be composed of 15 NBI agents, including three lead investigators.
Remulla directed the task force to conduct a proactive case build-up—gathering evidence, analyzing findings, and preparing recommendations for possible charges against those involved.
The NBI was also instructed to coordinate with other government agencies such as the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), the Commission on Audit (COA), the Senate, the House of Representatives, and an independent commission during the investigation.
Earlier, the NBI recommended to the DOJ the filing of charges against several individuals allegedly linked to the flood control scandal, including Senators Joel Villanueva and Jinggoy Estrada and Ako-Bicol Party-list Representative Zaldy Co.
