A task force (TF) was created by the Department of Justice (DOJ) for the investigation of Drug War Extra-Judicial Killings (EJK) under former President Rodrigo Duterte’s administration.

“Spare no one, hold accountable every personality who had a hand in the senseless killing perpetrated by abusive persons in authority during the past admin's anti-illegal drug campaign,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said.

Remulla announced in a Wednesday press release that he had signed Department Order 778 on Monday, which calls for a Task Force under the Office of the Secretary of Justice Prosecution Staff (OSJPS) of nine National Prosecution Service members to be led by a Senior Assistant State Prosecutor and a Regional Prosecutor.

The TF must turn in a report within 60 days of the DO 778 issuance. They are also entrusted with the investigation of drug war killings, carrying out case build up, and filing charges as necessary. Aside from this, they have also been mandated to coordinate with the House of Representatives’ Quad Committee and the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.

Prosecutor General Richard Anthony Fadullon, who was sworn in this Wednesday, vows the Department will make every effort and exhaust all possibilities in the investigation of cold EJK cases.
