The Department of Justice (DOJ) is hopeful that former Bamban Tarlac Mayor Alice Guo will be brought back to the Philippines soon.
According to DOJ Assistant Secretary and Spokesperson Atty. Mico Clavano, Guo is expected to arrive in the country at any time today, as the Indonesian government is cooperating with Philippine authorities.
Clavano mentioned that all government agencies, including the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Philippine National Police (PNP), the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), the DOJ, and the Bureau of Immigration, are working together in Indonesia to ensure her return.
Regarding Guo’s custody, Clavano explained that the legal process would be followed, similar to the case of Shiela Guo, who also faced immigration violations and other criminal charges.
Clavano further clarified that Guo is being investigated for disobedience to summons, or failure to comply with legal orders, a crime that the DOJ is currently scrutinizing.
As for the possibility of a prisoner swap, Clavano confirmed that the Philippine government has not yet received any request from the Indonesian government.
In addition, Senator Raffy Tulfo stated that Guo is expected to return to the country at 6:18 PM today through a chartered flight RP-C6188 with DILG Sec. Benhur Abalos and PNP Chief Gen. Rommel Marbil.
