Department of Justice (DOJ) Sec. Jesus Crispin Remulla sees multiple masterminds behind the assassination of Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo.
"Ang tingin namin dito ay hindi lang isa ang mastermind dito. It is a conspiracy. Meron kahit dalawa o tatlong tao na maari, marahil, talagang possible conspirators sa pangyayari," Remulla said on Thursday, March 9, during DZRH's Damdaming Bayan.
"Hindi naman kaya ng isang tao ang isang conspiracy. Ito ay sabwatan ng ilan para maipatupad ang isang maitim na balak," he added.
Remulla refused to name the suspected masterminds but admitted that the murder might have stemmed from politics.
"They will soon come out in due time when we have all the cases in and all the testimonies solidly behind us," the DOJ chief assured.
Authorities currently have four suspects in custody for their alleged involvement in the murder of Degamo and eight others on March 5 at the residential compound of the governor in Pamplona, Negros Oriental.
The suspects, all former soldiers, have expressed their intent to cooperate with the investigation of the death of Degamo.
