To conclude its 127th anniversary celebrations which began Monday, the Department of Justice (DOJ) has partnered with the Philippine Red Cross for a blood donation drive on Friday, September 27.

Fifty-one employees participated in bloodletting, which will aid about twice as many patients.

Facilitated by the Witness Protection, Security and Benefit Program (WPSBP), the “meaningful” event which would benefit Filipinos in critical conditions was preferred over “trivial festivities” for the DOJ exclusively.

“Justice should never be limited within the walls of our courtrooms or justice halls, thus, the DOJ will unwaveringly find ways on how to deliver the rule of law to the most vulnerable people of our community by all means possible,” Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla said.

“To my colleagues in the Department, congratulations for a job well done, thank you for all these years that you have supported me in our unending pursuit for justice, let us continue working together in the years ahead, happy anniversary!” he told the department.

The DOJ was founded on September 26, 1898, on the decree of the first Philippine president, Emilio Aguinaldo.
