The government still doesn't have any policy for the second COVID-19 booster shot of senior citizens and immunocompromise.
According to Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, the experts are still studying the fourth does of vaccines for the said vulnerable sectors, adding that they are still waiting for the recommendation of the vaccine experts and the National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (NITAG).
Duque pointed out that based on the studies, the second booster shot will help for the higher immunity of the vulnerable sectors against COVID-19.
Duque said that the health care worker and medical front liners are included in the prioritized groups.
The vaccine expert panel formerly recommended the extra booster for the seniors and immunocompromise who are vulnerable to COVID-19.
Under the said recommendation, the second booster shot shall be administered to the vulnerable sectors four months after the first booster.
