The Department of Health (DOH) urged the public to wear long sleeves, jackets, and pants when going outside to prevent possible transmission and infection of mpox.
According to Asec. Albert Domingo, it is possible to avoid infection by not coming into direct skin contact with an infected person, in addition to regular washing of hands.
Furthermore, DOH stressed that frontliners, including dermatologists, will be prioritized for vaccination once the vaccines arrive in the Philippines.
The DOH has requested 2,000 vaccine doses from the World Health Organization (WHO), but priority will be given to the Democratic Republic of Congo, where transmission rates of the disease are high.
The department has already confirmed two new cases of mpox in the National Capital Region (NCR), suggesting the possibility of local transmission.
