The Department of Health (DOH) on Tuesday recorded a total of 443 casualties due to fireworks and stray bullets, of which 212 were reported since the year started.

According to the DOH’s latest surveillance report, 212 of them are new cases, while 206 injuries happened at home along the streets.

It added that a total of 102 cases were caused by legal fireworks, with only 94 people actively involved.

The health department also shared that the age range of the fireworks-related injuries is from one to 75, with a median age of 22, of which the majority of them are male, with 166 cases.

Moreover, the DOH also recorded six new amputation cases, for a total of 17, while a total of 122 individuals have experienced eye injuries, with one patient becoming blind.

In total, 441 out of 443 injuries recorded starting December 21 to January 2 were caused by fireworks, with one being because of watusi ingestion and one being because of a stray bullet.
