The Department of National Defense (DND) denounced on Monday the circulation of an "obviously fake video" purportedly from a MAISUG gathering in Los Angeles, labeling it a malicious attempt to destabilize the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
"The obviously fake video being circulated emanating from a MAISUG gathering in Los Angeles is again a maliciously crude attempt to destabilize the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. They will not succeed!" the statement declared.
According to DND, the video supposedly showing Marcos using illegal drugs.
Highlighting the international reach of the fabricated content, the DND expressed dismay over its release in the United States, branding it a cowardly effort to evade Philippine legal jurisdiction.
"We urge the proper US authorities to investigate and bring to justice the perpetrators of this disgusting act," the statement emphasized.
As this incident unfolds, the DND reaffirmed its vigilance against misinformation and its dedication to protecting the integrity of the Philippines' political landscape.
