The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is set to manage the repatriation and reintegration of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) who were recently granted pardon in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The department also announced its readiness to support the repatriation process in collaboration with the Philippine Embassy in the UAE.
In addition, the DMW assured the public that it will coordinate with other government agencies in the Philippines to ensure a smooth transition for the livelihoods and other needs of the returning OFWs.
On January 6, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. announced that 220 Filipinos were granted pardon by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, in celebration of the country’s 53rd National Day.
This brings the total number of pardoned Filipinos to 363, following the earlier pardon of 143 individuals during Eid al-Adha.
President Marcos noted that the UAE’s gesture reflects the strong and enduring ties between the Philippines and the UAE.
In November, Marcos returned to the Philippines after a one-day working visit to the UAE, describing the trip as brief but productive.
