The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) is set to formally launch a mobile application, a platform where Overseas Workers (OFWs) can access essential services, next week.

In a press statement on July 1, DMW Secretary Susan ‘Toots’ Ople said the DMW mobile application will help OFWs in securing OFW passes.

“Digitalization is another aspect where teamwork is needed, and all hands are now on deck to address the challenges that most of our OFWs raise regarding the Overseas Employment Certificate (OEC),” Ople said.

She said the mobile application was first showcased to several Filipino communities (Filcom) leaders during their two-hour Zoom session on how to download and use the app last June 30.

“More training and information sessions are scheduled to get more Filcom leaders onboard as we continue to test and finetune the app prior to its formal launch,” the DMW Secretary added.

The DMW recently posted detailed information about the mobile application on its website.

According to the agency, OFWs need to submit the required documents and undergo a verification process upon download.

Once the verification is successful, the domestic worker can generate and acquire the OFW Pass.

The said OFW pass will serve as a digital identification card and can also be used as a prerequisite for an Exit Clearance.

“Bukod sa "tamper-proof," isa rin sa ginhawang hatid ng digital identification na ito ay katiyakang magiging mas maayos ang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga employer, ahensiya ng pamahalaan, at mga service provider,” DMW said.

The OFW Pass is valid until the working contract of a domestic worker has expired.

The DMW mobile application is free to download.
